Now that Windows 11 is available to the general public, there are some things we need to know about the system. Windows 11 has some new security features that requires certain hardware requirements which are only available in newer computers built within the last few years.
Your computer won’t be compatible for Windows 11 unless it meets these requirements. Microsoft started sending out windows 11 to compatible computers on Oct. 5, 2021. There is a tool called “PC Health Check” that you can download and run to see if your computer is eligible for Windows 11. You can download it here:. https://www.filehorse.com/download-pc-health-check/download/
The good news is if your computer isn’t eligible for Windows 11, Windows 10 will be supported until Oct., 2025.
Windows 11 isn’t a complete change from 10 and actually has many similarities. Some of the changes are cosmetic like rounded corners on windows and more modern looking icons. Task bar icons are in the center of the taskbar (but can be placed to the left as in 10). The start menu is changed some and the format of the settings is different. However, Windows 11 is basically very similar to 10 and doesn’t have a large learning curve.
In conclusion, I would recommend Windows 11 if your computer is compatible. If not, Windows 10 will be supported for four more years so you can safely stay with that. If you are getting a new computer I would definitely get Windows 11.
